Accessibility

Effective date: September 23, 2026.

Barn Scan targets WCAG 2.1 Level AA across barnscan.com and the Barn Scan apps. Accessibility is not a one-time pass; we test it every time we ship a page.

What we've done

• Every page works from a keyboard alone, with a visible focus outline on every interactive element.
• A skip-to-content link on every page jumps straight past the navigation.
• Color contrast meets AA in the one theme Barn Scan ships (we do not run a separate light theme).
• Animation respects your operating system's reduced-motion setting and turns off automatically.
• Buttons, links, and form controls have real labels for screen readers, not just visual text.
• Every tap target is at least 44 by 44 pixels.
• Purely decorative marks and icons are hidden from screen readers so they don't add noise.
• Every mark we draw on a film has a text equivalent in the report: what we saw, where, and why it matters.

Known limitations

A radiograph itself is a visual image, and we cannot make the film pixels themselves accessible to someone who cannot see them. To close that gap, every finding on a film is also written out in plain text in the report, so nothing in a Barn Scan report depends on being able to see the marking to understand it.
